Ralf Drautzis a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy of Ruhr-UniversityBochum, Germany and a director at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced MaterialsSimulation (ICAMS).

Ralf carried out his PhD project at Max Planck Institute for metals research,Stuttgart. He then developed cluster expansions with Juan Miguel Sanchez at the University ofTexas at Austin, followed by research on bond-order potentials with Professor David Pettifor at the University of Oxford. 

In 2008 he was appointed as the first director of ICAMS. Ralf works onatomistic modelling and simulation of materials with a focus on the development of interatomicpotentials-for more accurate and faster atomistic simulations to support the development ofnovel materials.
